Next Term sees a few changes for Sew-Along, we are moving to a new home . . . the Forrest Park Croquet Club in Mount Lawley promises to be a great new space for us. There is a wonderful amount of space to spread out in, plenty of tables for everyone & nestled between Beaufort Street & Lord Street, it has easier access off the freeway - it should be great!
. . . so whats in store for next term?

SEW-ALONG NEW SKILLS - PAPER PIECING
3 week class starting Tuesday 23rd July 7pm - 9.30pm
3 week class starting Tuesday 23rd July 7pm - 9.30pm
Each term we try to include a class focusing on teaching a new skill or technique & term 3 will all be about paper piecing. Paper piecing has been around for years & it is a great way to achieve quite complicated patterns using your machine. We will be teaching a variety of different blocks from the very simply to the more testing! This class is not necessarily aimed at finishing a complete project but more about perfecting the techniques used to get great results.
This Aeroplane block would look great turned into a small quilt or play mat & the 'circle of geese' block below made a few times looks great turned into a table runner, bed runner & even a quilt
SUITABLE FOR THOSE WITH SOME SEWING EXPERIENCE
SEW-ALONG FOR THE HOME
With Spring around the corner, its time to jazz up the house a bit before we get busy with Christmas. We have put together a few new cushion designs working with half square triangles & colour blocking. This is a great technique & the class will teach you how to get those corners & joins perfect. If you choose to make the cushions them the class will also teach you how to quilt the top, make the back with buttons or zips & how to add piping to the edges just to make them look really fabulous
Also new to the Sew-Along range is a new table runner & a very glamorous new kitchen apron. The runner combines a variety of techniques & the class covers a range of ways to quilt it.
SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS & THE MORE EXPERIENCED
SEW-ALONG PATCHWORK & QUILTING
Whether you are a total beginner or have done patchwork before we have a great design for you to get into in term 3. Our new pattern for the term is our 'Under the Umbrellas' quilt. This quilt works with foundation piecing techniques & comes together to create a great pattern. Our sample was made using Libertys 'Bloomsbury Garden' fabrics. The finished quilt measures 1.70m x 1.70m
The quilt class in term 3 is a four week class giving you enough time to complete your quilt top. If you are a beginner we recommend you start with our Disappearing Nine Patch quilt. All the quilt designs can be seen on our patterns page
